SUBSEA ROBOTS AT THE ÅSGARD FIELD

Out in the Norwegian Sea, at 300 meters depth, lies the Åsgard Field. Down on the seabed are valuable installations and pipelines that require regular supervision and maintenance. So far, this work has been done manually from ships, a costly, time-consuming and environmentally unfriendly solution.

The Trondheim company Eelume has developed robotic snakes that can take over and streamline these tasks. They will be lowered to the seabed in the Åsgard field, and during a trial period will perform maintenance, adjust valves, inspect pipelines and ensure that everything in order.

The robots are controlled from Equinor's control center on land but will eventually become autonomous using artificial intelligence. In the future, the robot snakes will hopefully live permanently on the seabed and perform their tasks on their own.

Eelume and Equinor chose Amøbe to produce an animated film showing the robots in action. In close collaboration they created an engaging and beautiful film that clearly demonstrates the flexibility and functionality of the robot snakes in situations they are particularly suitable for.

An inspirational job for a new animation studio!
